Gates and access

Tennis court gate access: a code for every booking

bookahit gives tennis clubs keyless gate access: no keys, padlocks or shared codes. When a player books, their own code goes onto your club's gate straight away, works only around their booking and stops if it's cancelled. bookahit works with a range of security systems, installed and connected by our integrators.

How a booking opens the gate

  1. 1

    A player books

Online, on any phone or computer, under your club's rules, and pays if your club charges.

  2. 2

Their code is on the gate

bookahit puts the booking's own code on your club's access controller (the box that runs your gates and lights) the moment it's booked (or paid for). It's in the confirmation email and under My bookings.

  3. 3

They type it on the keypad

The code opens only that court's gate, from a set time before the booking until a set time after: 10 minutes either side unless your club changes it.

  4. 4

    Changes follow the booking

Move the booking and the same code moves with it. Cancel it and the code stops straight away.

Other ways in

The code always works. These are there too.
  • Open gate from the phone

During their booking, players can press Open gate on the website. When your club's location is set, the phone has to be at the club: bookahit checks where it is once, and doesn't keep it.

  • Phone tap

With bookahit Tap plates fitted at your gates, players hold their phone to the plate to open the gate for their booking. Their code always works as well.

  • Staff codes and cards

Coaches, cleaners and committee members get their own permanent codes or access cards, managed from the club dashboard. Viewing a code is recorded.

  • Opened by your team

Your team can open a gate for someone from the dashboard, and every opening is recorded with who did it.

Built to keep working, and to stay safe

  • When the internet drops

Your access controller holds each code and its times, so codes keep working. New codes and changes catch up when the connection is back.

  • Limits and a pause

Limits on how often a gate can be opened from bookahit. If openings suddenly spike, opening from bookahit pauses by itself and your admins and the bookahit team are told; codes on the keypads keep working. The bookahit team can pause it too.

What your club needs

Keypads at your court gates, on a security system that bookahit connects to. Our integrators inspect your site and quote for what it would take, from connecting your system to supplying one, and can connect your court lights at the same time (see court lights that follow the bookings).

Connecting your security system and caring for it is $258 + GST a month for 36 months, then $83 + GST a month, on top of the court fee of $49 + GST per court a month. Nothing up front. The security system itself is supplied and installed by our integration team, quoted after a site inspection. See the prices.

Questions about gate access

What stops players sharing their code?
A booking's code opens only that court's gate, and only around that booking's time. After that it doesn't open anything.
Do players need an app or a fob?
No. The code comes in the confirmation email and under My bookings on the website, and it's typed on the keypad. Phone tap is there for those who want it, and the bookahit app is on its way to the App Store and Google Play.
Can someone book a court that starts in a few minutes?
Yes. The code goes onto your gate as the booking is made (or paid for), so there's no wait for codes to sync.
What if the internet drops?
Your access controller holds each booking's code and its times, so codes keep working without the internet. New codes go on, and phone tap and Open gate work again, as soon as the connection is back.
Does it work with the keypads we have?
bookahit works with a range of security systems, and our integrators install them too. Tell us what you have and we'll inspect your site and quote for what it would take, from connecting your system to replacing padlocks with keypads.
Who can open our gates from the dashboard?
Only people your club's master admin allows. Club admins use two-step sign-in, and every opening, light override and settings change is recorded in your club's activity log. If gates are opened from bookahit too many times within a minute, opening from bookahit pauses and the bookahit team and your club's admins are told. Codes on the keypads keep working. When the bookahit team helps remotely, it gives a reason, and it shows in your activity log.
